How I want to spend my summer vacation.

Being a summer camp counselor can be one of the most rewarding and fun yet demanding jobs you will undertake. It is a wonderful opportunity for you to explore your potential and gain experience as a leader, teacher and mentor.

Counselors live in cabins with the campers with bath houses located a short distance away. All counselors lead or help teach activities during the day and supervise activities at night.

We are fortunate in that most (and sometimes all) of our staff are former campers, junior counselors and counselors. Although formal summer camping experience is not required it certainly is a plus in our consideration of applicants. Salaries are based upon duties assigned and number of years of counseling experience. The average salary is $2200 for eight weeks of work.

Camp Mont Shenandoah seeks young women who are highly motivated, capable, intelligent, fun and flexible to work in an outdoor environment and be a role model for girls between the ages of seven and sixteen. To apply to be a camp counselor at Camp Mont Shenandoah, you may contact Ann Batley, our Director, at (540) 977-5994. Please note that the application packet includes three reference forms. They must be completed by someone who knows you and can attest to your character and ability. At least one reference form must be completed by a past supervisor/employer. A family member may NOT act as a reference. All references should return their completed forms directly to Ann Batley.

Do not hesitate to contact Ann Batley should you have any questions about being a counselor at Camp Mont Shenandoah or the application process.
