CMS Centennial Project FAQs

Dear Camp Mont Shenandoah Alumnae,

As CMS prepares to celebrate this remarkable centennial year in Millboro Springs, there is a special opportunity to honor the past while investing in the future: helping to fund a community-focused capital improvement.

In collaboration with Ann and her leadership staff, we have chosen to fund a pavilion, an outdoor classroom that will be built near the river and will serve campers, counselors, families, and alumnae for generations to come.

The pavilion will be more than a structure. Designed as an open-air gathering space in the shaded area close to the river, it will host a broad range of activities, including classes, team meetings, morning yoga, rainy-day programming, and small-group cookouts. There will be flexible seating such as picnic tables, hammocks, Adirondack chairs, and a nearby fire pit. Creating room for the meaningful “in-between” moments that define life at camp, the pavilion will provide a beautiful and practical space that reflects both the strength of camp’s traditions and its needs for the next 100 years. At the 100th Reunion weekend, you will be able to get a sense of the placement and scale of the pavilion, as we will stake out the footprint. 

A centennial is a rare milestone, and we hope you will consider making a gift to this CMS Centennial Project. Our goal is maximum alumnae participation. Just as each camper, counselor, and staff member has contributed to what camp has become over these hundred years, so will every contribution help shape the pavilion. The estimated cost is $75,000.  In partnership with CMS, our goal is to have the funding complete by the fall in order to have the pavilion open for the campers by the summer of 2027. You can contribute in honor or memory of a beloved counselor or friend, or simply because you want to help create a special space for the next generation of campers.

*Your gift will be designated for the CMS Centennial Project only. As camp is not a 501(c)(3) organization, this contribution is not eligible for a tax deduction.

Would you like to encourage other CMS alums to give to the CMS Centennial Project with your gift? We’re looking for 10 – 15 alums whose larger gifts will serve as the backbone of our giving challenges. All funds will be designated to the CMS Centennial Project. In the unlikely event that construction of the pavilion cannot proceed due to unforeseen circumstances, the money raised will be used for a similar CMS community-focused capital improvement.
