An Easy, Scenic Drive

Camp Mont Shenandoah is located in beautiful Bath County, Virginia, near the unincorporated village of Millboro Springs.

Getting here is an easy and scenic drive, no matter which direction you’re coming from. We are located in the Allegheny Mountains, about one hour west of Staunton, Virginia. We are 2.5 hours west of Richmond, and about 3.5 hours southwest of Washington DC.

The following driving directions are provided as a convenience, as cell phone coverage can be intermittent in Bath County.

From Washington, D.C. (200 miles):

  1. Follow I-66 West to I-81 South.
  2. Take the first exit for Staunton – Rt. 275.  Merge onto Rt. 275 heading west.
  3. After 1 mile, Rt. 275 intersects with Rt. 11 (1st traffic light). Go straight. It becomes Rt. 262 (old Rt. 275)
  4. Take the Parkersburg Pike Exit (also Rt. 254). Go right at the end of the exit ramp.
  5. At Buffalo Gap, approximately 8 miles from Staunton, continue straight.  Rt. 254 ends and turns into Rt. 42 South, which merges from the right.
  6. Continue on Rt. 42 South to Millboro Springs, passing through the towns of Craigsville and Goshen.
  7. Millboro Springs is 8 miles past Goshen.  Take a left at the Citgo station in Millboro Springs, following Rt. 42 South towards Clifton Forge.
  8. Camp Mont Shenandoah is exactly 1 1⁄2 miles on your right (large stone gate posts & sign).

From Richmond, Virginia (150 miles):

  1. Follow I-64 West to I-81 South.
  2. Take the first Exit, which is Rt. 262.
  3. Take the Parkersburg Pike Exit (also Rt. 254). Go left at the end of the exit ramp.
  4. At Buffalo Gap, approximately 8 miles from Staunton, continue straight.  Rt. 254 ends and turns into Rt. 42 South, which merges from the right.
  5. Continue on Rt. 42 South to Millboro Springs, passing through the towns of Craigsville and Goshen.
  6. Millboro Springs is 8 miles past Goshen.  Take a left at the Citgo station in Millboro Springs, following Rt. 42 South towards Clifton Forge.
  7. Camp Mont Shenandoah is exactly 1 1⁄2 miles on your right (large stone gate posts & sign).

From Roanoke, Virginia (65 miles):

  1. From I-81, get on Rt. 220 North to Clifton Forge.
  2. In Clifton Forge, get on I-64 East (follow signs – it is well marked).
  3. Take the Rt. 42 exit (Next exit after the last Clifton Forge exit).  At the bottom of the exit ramp, turn left towards Millboro Springs, which places you on Rt. 42 North.
  4. After approximately 20 minutes (15 miles), you will pass Nimrod Hall on your left.
  5. Continue for another 2 miles to CMS, which will be on your left (large stone gate posts & sign).  If you come to the intersection of Rt. 42 and Rt. 39, you have passed the camp (turn around, and CMS will be 1.5 miles on your right).

As you arrive at camp, please drive slowly and carefully. Please report to our Camp Office on your arrival. On major traffic days like Drop-Off Day, Pick-Up Day, and Parents Weekend, we will have counselors available who can guide you to parking.
