Greetings again from CMS! Our campers have settled in, and we are so happy that the summer season has really kicked off! On Wednesday, campers were surprised to learn that the evening activity would not be 1 up vespers, as promised, but instead the DANCE! We had an evening full of snowballing, dream couple, and cake at Camp Maxwelton, and we are eagerly awaiting the inevitable few letters that arrive with the Maxwelton address. On Thursday, some of our juniors were selected to go on the garden trip, where they visited a nearby farm and helped out by picking onions and having the best time. Thursday night was the real 1 Up Vespers, where each girl was tasked with writing about their favorite thing about camp.
On Friday, we took a step back from the week’s fast pace, ending our day of activities with some Cozy Karaoke. But the energy picked right back up the next morning, with both Playday and our Fourth of July celebration. Our first team competition of the season, Playday, was full of excitement. Campers participated in the Junior Olympics egg toss, some deck tennis, and the race around camp, building fires to burn through strings and trying to set tables as fast as humanly possible. On Sunday, our athletics heads announced that the Greens won Playday. Go Greens! We continued Saturday with our Fourth of July celebration. We had a quick beach party followed by some cabin time because of the rain, but the festivities continued into the night with our Fourth of July Carnival! Some of our campers signed up to be a part of the carnival, running hair chalk, nail, and caricature stations. We had glowsticks, music, sprinklers, and cake to celebrate.
We are ⅓ of the way done with the first three weeks! We can’t believe how quickly time is moving, but we also can’t wait for the rest of the summer!
